LORRAINE  DOHENY

Lorraine Doheny is an Australian Artist living bayside, South East of  Brisbane, in Queensland Australia.

Her canvases portray her impressions of the Coastline, Heritage Buildings, Flowers, People and especially young children at play.  On occasions there are Contemporary Works that portray her love of colour, transformed from the mind’s eye.

Lorraine achieved a Diploma of Fine Art at Phillip Institute (now RMIT University) in 1984 and has been painting for over 45 years.

In September 2011 Lorraine is Feature Artist at The Old Schoolhouse Gallery where she is a Member and the immediate past President.   The address and  details for the gallery are on the page of   ‘favourite links’..

She paints daily in her studio and says the joy of painting sustains her because the mind is so engrossed with the work in progress, it is like meditation. Her work in the Queensland Maritime Museum is a painting of Lorraine’s Great Great Great Uncle ... Matthew Flinders the Explorer.   It was  painted for the  1999 Bi Centenary Celebrations of Matthew Flinders, for his circumnavigation and his naming  of Australia.

The Artist has exhibited widely in many galleries in Victoria before coming to reside in Queensland and has  achieved many awards.  Her work has been collected Interstate and in Europe and America.

Lorraine paints in many mediums, but her preferred medium is Oils. She enjoys working in Watercolour, Acrylic, Gouache,  Pastel, and Pencil.
