Denise Wright
Denise completed courses in
Studio Ceramics, Sculpture and Architectural Ceramics before becoming a
full-time studio potter, 25 years ago.
Her work is inspired by
beautiful Moreton Bay and Coochiemudlo Island where she lives. These
influences over the years, have seen her work include highly textured
forms through to her present series which reflects the brilliant colours
of the region, adorned with the jewel-like qualities of lustres and gold
work.
Each item of
porcelainous clay is individually crafted and its’ semi- abstract
underglaze decoration follows the form of the piece. A clear satin
glaze is applied and the pot is fired up to fives times to achieve the
desired effect. Although this type of work is time consuming, it is
satisfying to the soul to see the piece come ‘alive’ at the end.
Her work has appeared in
numerous shows and exhibitions and is in collections both in Australia
and overseas.
